ABOUT
The brief for this project was to design a furniture item for small house/apartment living and the material provided was plywood, emphasizing flat pack-able design to make it simple and easy for the end user to assemble.
DESIGN PROCESS
Taking into account the materials and manufacturing constraints (CNC, Plywood) I began the ideation process and exploring the different product possibilities. Through this I came to the conclusion that making a small compact and easy to ship or transport coffee table was the direction I would continue going with. With more refined sketches i moved into scale model prototyping and began to make more final design choices.
FINAL PRODUCT
The final design is a visually light and clean coffee table made to maximize your space not only in its form but visually as-well. With its structural design being made up of small armature, light colours and a clear glass top this table would fit well in many modern apartments. Finally the simple construction and low part count ensures minimal costs and makes it perfect for shipping from manufacture direct to the customer for assembly.
